The Mary Jane Top

This should be the easiest person for me to write about – my mom. However, I find it the hardest due to trying to condense her story and impacts in the world. I will start by saying she is one of two people I have met in my life that, hands down, I know found a job that was meant for the use of all of their talents. As a speech pathologist and a former director for a state program for kids with developmental delays, she fought through male-dominated boardrooms, wrote state-wide budgets, led happy teams, and changed the lives of thousands of children and their families. The bonus? I was given her as a mom, where she was equally as good at that job as well. And believe me, I made her WORK (especially in my teen years)! One of her greatest lessons – she never believed in “dressing your age” and instead she says “dress how you feel!”
